Benzalkonium bromide is a cationic surfactant, and the cation binds to the protein through the surfactant molecule, causing bacterial growth inhibition and death. At the same time, benzalkonium bromide can also change the permeability of the membrane, leading to the lysis and death of bacteria. The combined use of the two has synergistic effect, greatly reduces the corrosiveness and irritation of aldehydes, improves the bactericidal effect, and expands the antibacterial spectrum.
